But many times the reference images I find are on the internet. Yes, I could probably print them all out and set them on my desk. But some of the digital art programs actually allow you to display reference images directly in your workspace.

1. Open Your Reference Image

Now, we want to see the reference image while working on our painting. To do that you need to open up the reference image palette. The palette will allow you to choose any open image as your reference image.
3. Adjusting Reference Image
Once you have your reference image pulled up, it's merely a matter of adjusting it to suit your needs. Using the pan and zoom tools you can move about your reference image within the reference image palette.
4. Pulling Colors from your Reference Image
The reference window also allows you to easily pull colors from your reference image. By holding the alt button on PC, your mouse turns into an eyedropper tool. Now, one thing you need to know is make sure to have your brush tool selected. Canvas draw 5 0 2 – universal graphics tool organizer. This will not work if you attempt it using the pan or zoom tools.
